5.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised. Up to five displays, GigE, no waiting., February 29, 2012
This review is from: Targus USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Dual Video Docking Station (ACP70USZ) (Personal Computers)
I'm not certain why so many others are having issues with this dock. I bought two (one for work, one for home).

Unboxed one, plugged GigE, some USB2.0 peripherals, and two 1920x1080 displays into the device, powered it up, and plugged it into the USB3.0 port on my Asus G74SX. The laptop detected the hub, but had very few of the components working. After inserting the driver CD that came with the unit and installing the drivers, the GigE port lit up and ran at 1Gbps, the USB2.0 fired up, everything worked but the dual external monitors. However, I waited about five minutes and the monitors suddenly engaged at the full 1920x1080 FullHD resolution.

Subsequent plug-ins to either of the docks worked flawlessly. A software update popped up with Windows Update a week later, with many updates for the dock; one of the biggest was for the DisplayPort software, which is software that extends video through the USB port. Technically, my NVidia GPU on the Asus doesn't see... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Targus USB 3.0 not working as advertised, January 27, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Targus USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Dual Video Docking Station (ACP70USZ) (Personal Computers)
I connected the Targus USB 3.0 docking station to my HP Pavilion dv7t system and Windows loaded the drivers onto my system. I then connected the video using the DVI connector to my Samsung Syncmaster 245BW monitor and a Cat-5 Ethernet cable to my Linksys E4200 router. Targus advertises that the USB 3.0 docking station supports monitors up to 2048 x 1150 display mode and 1 GB Ethernet. I am sorry to say that the unit does not support either of these. My monitor had much flicker and missing pixels (it was running 1920 x 1080). Setting the refresh rate at 75 MHz did not correct the flicker or missing pixels. As for the Ethernet connection, it only connects at 100Mb and not 1Gb. I contacted Targus support and they had to get back to me with an update since the USB 3.0 dock was new. The email I received stated the problem was in my hardware and that I needed to correct this in order for the device to run properly. Sadly to say, I emailed them back and stated that I have been... 2.0 out of 5 stars These things are buggy, April 24, 2012
This review is from: Targus USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Dual Video Docking Station (ACP70USZ) (Personal Computers)
Was really excited for this USB 3.0 docking station. Purchased 01/2012. Using on an HP ProBook Win7 64bit.

The issue I have had from the start is packet loss on the ethernet port. We operate in a gigabit environment, and the Targus was experiencing a 50% packet loss. I talked to their support twice, and they eventually provided me a temporary work around of reducing the port speed on our switch to 10/100. They stated they will have a more permanent solution. That helped a little, but was still shaky and I want to utilize gigabit. I spoke with them today, 4/24/12, and they still have no fix. The ACP71USZ(with power) must have the same issue. I was going to get one today, but they told me they are the same docking station, and didn't assure me the connection problem wouldn't be there.

Think they jumped the gun a bit on these docking stations.
